Adam Cook - Senior Pastor
Adam is the founding and senior pastor of Union Church. In this role, he is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the church through speaking, teaching, and sharing Union's vision to Love God, Love People, and Prove It! We have a saying around Union that we are all Messy Jacked Up People in need of Jesus to clean us up. Adam is passionate about reaching people who are far from God by preaching bible-based messages in an understandable way that make God’s Word accessible to everyone.
Adam holds degrees in Science and Pastoral Studies from Averett University and Southwestern College, respectively. He also holds a graduate certificate in Youth and Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary and studied non-profit management at Virginia Commonwealth University. Adam has been serving in full time ministry for 15 years.
Adam and his wife, Valorie, founded Union in 2012 with 7 other families. The Cook family lives in Danville, VA with their three children.
Valorie Cook - Executive Director
Valorie is responsible for implementing Union’s vision to Love God, Love People, and Prove It by providing direct leadership and support to the staff and various ministries of Union. She also serves in an operational capacity, creating systems and developing policies for our growing church.
Valorie holds a BA in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and an MA in Liberal Studies (English and History) from Duke University. She has dually worked in higher education and served in various ministries for the last 15 years, including Administration, Kids Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Christian Education.
Donna Dickens - Business and Operations Director
In her role as Union’s primary business officer, Donna oversees all functions related to the business operations of our church. She also provides leadership to the Union Prayer team and is responsible for providing care to the people of Union and beyond.
Donna holds an AS from Danville Community College and has 30 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, management, and facilities management.
Melissa Rose - Director of Connections and Next Steps
In her Next Steps role, Melissa manages Union’s events and processes to ensure that people receive support and follow-up in taking next steps in their faith. She is also responsible for our Connections team, ensuring that guests feel welcome and comfortable.
Melissa has over 15 years of experience in management, sales, and customer service including 5 years working with graphics and printing.
Emily Ince - Groups Director
In her role as Groups Director, Emily is responsible for facilitating small group opportunities that provide biblical community and help people meet and develop a relationship with Jesus through prayer, study, discussion, service, and fellowship. Emily oversees an ever-growing groups ministry that currently consists of about 15 groups meeting throughout the City of Danville, Pittsylvania County, and Caswell County.
Emily holds a BA degree in Communications from Radford University. She has five years of experience in communications, education, and training within a small group setting.
Jessie Nobles - Union Kids Director
Jessie provides leadership to the Union Kids Team, where she is responsible for creating an engaging and fun environment where kids from birth to 4th grade can grow in a relationship with Jesus on a level that they can relate to and understand.
Jessie holds an AS degree in Early Childhood Development from Danville Community College. She has over 15 years of teaching, administrative, and training experience, including over a decade of experience working with children with special needs. She has been serving in Kids Ministry since 1997.
Johnnie Wilmoth - Union Kids Director - Caswell
Johnnie provides leadership to the Union Kids Team at our Caswell campus, where she is responsible for creating an engaging and fun environment where kids from birth to 4th grade can grow in a relationship with Jesus on a level that they can relate to and understand.
Johnnie is currently studying Psychology and Christian Counseling at Liberty University. She has been working in Kids Ministry since 2002.
Kristie Strange - Worship Director
In her role as Union’s Worship Director, Kristie is responsible for providing worship environments for kids, students, and adults that are relevant, understandable, and help people meet and develop a relationship with Jesus. Kristie manages a team of musicians, lighting, and sound technicians that support all aspects of Union’s multiple worship environments including aesthetics, technical, and music elements.
Kristie has 25 years of experience in music, including leading regionally successful bands. She has 5 years of experience in worship ministry and holds a certificate in Worship Leadership from Samford University.
Laura Holley - Missions Director
Laura leads a team that creates accessible opportunities for kids, students, and adults to take the gospel out into the community and beyond. She manages all aspects of Union’s primary mission areas, which currently include Downtown Missions, Under Construction, Financial Peace University, and International Missions.
Laura holds a BS in Business Management from American National University. She has 12 years of administrative, business, and management experience and has served in Missions for 3 years. Laura also served in the Army for 4 years, including a tour to Iraq.
Rocky Ashby - Campus Pastor
Rocky serves as Pastor of our Caswell campus. In this capacity, he provides leadership and direction to our Caswell team.
Rocky has been in leadership at Union since 2015, including previously serving as Facilities Director. Rocky also has over 30 years of industrial experience including materials management.
Mark Fitzgerald - Student Pastor
Mark leads the Middle and High School ministries at Union. In this role, he creates opportunities for students 5th– 12th grade to encounter Christ on their level in an environment that is relevant to them.
Mark gave his life to Christ at age 15 as a direct result of his involvement in his youth group. He wants to encourage and inspire students to live their lives for Christ and show them that church can be fun. Mark studied at Old Dominion University and has been working with special needs individuals since 2013.
