Independence. It’s one of the core values of American culture. We are taught from an early age to be self-sufficient. We are told that being able to fend for yourself is a sign of strength and maturity. We value independence and individualism above almost everything else. But we weren’t created to live that way. It may feel counter-intuitive, but the truth is it’s about WE not ME.
